I met this sweet baby girl in her Sunnyvale home when she was 10 days new. Mommy was so glad to finally have her baby girl to join their family with two older rambunctious brothers. We used soft pinks and purples to highlight the soft femininity of a new baby girl. Baby wasn't super interested in sleeping at the beginning (as is typical) but we got there in the end.
I met this little guy on his two week old birthday. We did photos with his parents and his maternal grandparents (who were in town to help out and meet their new grandson). This little guy was not super interested in sleeping but we got there in the end. I think babies must just be so excited for their photo debut because the moms of the babies I photograph frequently say that their baby usually sleeps around the time we do the session but the baby is usually awake at the beginning of their session. As long as they are content I will continue to take photos. I take my time and use all of my best soothing techniques and I can typically get the baby to sleep eventually. Check out my New Parent Email Guide if you want to learn some of these soothing techniques (the link is in the side bar or click the "Free Gift" link above)!
I was so glad when a friend of mine messaged me on Facebook out of the blue about taking photos of her new baby boy! We had gone to the same church for a while but she moved away from Sunnyvale about a year or two ago, though still in the Bay Area and close enough to make the drive over to see me in my home "studio" (I typically travel to the baby's home but there have been a few times when I shoot the session in my own home based on my client's needs). This baby boy was a little bit premature so we met for his photo-shoot when he was about a month old. He was still very sleepy although not quite as squishy/flexible as a brand new baby. But we still got some great newborn photos together! His mom brought a really cute African tribal print cloth to celebrate his father's heritage. I loved it since it allowed me to stretch my creativity from what I normally use. And I now have a cool new digital backdrop with an African theme (the one with the cloth laid out flat and the brown bowl on top).
Happy birthday baby girls!! Today is a very special day in our family; today is my nieces' 1st birthday and so in honor their birthday I wanted to post their newborn photos that I was able to take with them about a year ago. After they were born my one year old daughter (the older kids stayed at home with dad because they had school) and I flew out of our home here in California to see these baby girls and to help out my husband's brother and sister in law with their new life caring for twins for about a week. That meant I got lots of cuddle time and we took LOTS of photos! I just love the blue and pink flower wraps that their mom had for us to use; aren't the matching bows just amazing! They matched my Luisa Dunn floral backdrops perfectly!! Happy birthday sweeties!!
This little angel was my first baby of the year! Little Camila was due on Christmas but born a few days later and I came to play at the beginning of January. We even got her big brother to play for a short time but as a rambunctious two year old he wasn't super interested in staying put.
Camila is such a blessing to her family. She is a rainbow baby.
Her family had to deal with quite a lot of hardships before she was born. Her mom said she wouldn't mind if I shared some of their story:
Their first pregnancy was quite difficult as the mom suffered from hypermesis gravidarum, but it was worth it when their son was born. A while later they became pregnant again and although it wasn't expected so soon after the birth of their first child the little family was thrilled to have their family grow and to have the siblings close together. Shortly after they announced their pregnancy to their family they got devastating news about someone in their family. Camila's grandpa had been diagnosed with stage 4 terminal lung cancer. A few weeks later Camila's mom started feeling miscarriage symptoms and after having an ultrasound the doctor confirmed that the baby had passed. After recovering physically from the miscarriage Camila's family decided they weren't ready to actively try again for a baby as the loss was very painful but they would just wait to see what happened. Camila's mom became pregnant again soon after and the family was so happy to have this blessing. Shortly after finding out they were pregnant their family found out that grandpa was actually misdiagnosed with cancer: he actually had something less deadly called valley fever. Two miracles!! Camila's mom said "2018 was the greatest and worst year of our lives."
I am so happy for them and that they let me capture these special moments and got to share their rainbow after the storm.
