Scheduling your baby's session: The best time to photograph a newborn baby is when they are under 14 days old. After two weeks babies are generally more awake and a little harder to settle into the iconic curly newborn poses; additionally, things like colic and baby acne often start to manifest after that time. However I understand that having a baby often turns your life upside down and so I will accept a baby for a newborn session up to six weeks of age (after that they can still be photographed in a non-newborn Portrait session). If this is the case with your baby please let me know when you book so we can discuss the limitations and expectations of your older newborn.
You can contact me at any time during your pregnancy to give me your estimated due date. I will then pencil your due date into my calendar. I only accept a limited number of due dates per month to help me balance my work and family life. After your baby is born we will adjust your session date accordingly depending on when your baby is born (babies are very unpredictable in their arrival!). Either after the birth of your baby or when you arrive home from the hospital/birth center with your baby you (or an appointed loved one) can contact me via email, text or Facebook message to arrange the best time and day for your session.
Location: All sessions are held on location in either the client's home or at an outdoor location around Utah County(depending on the type of session). If the temperature is moderate (generally between 75 to 80 F) we may discuss the possibility of doing part of your newborn's session outdoors. Travel 25 miles or more outside of the city center of Springville, UT will incur travel charges. Contact the photographer for more information.
Other Considerations: All props including blankets, hats, wraps, and headbands are provided by the photographer and will be available for your newborn session. As we prepare for your newborn's session I will ask you to take a few quick cellphone pictures of your home in order to help me coordinate the styling of your session. If you have sentimental items such as knitted blankets, special clothing items or hats you would like included in your images, please have them laid out prior to the session and I will make every effort to incorporate them during your session. I really love when the client has something that is extra special to them, so don't hesitate to tell me about what you have in mind prior to the session so I can plan accordingly. Check out this post for more ideas on how to find a special prop for your baby's session.
Children do best in sessions when they are well rested and healthy. If your child is sick before the session please let me know ASAP and we can reschedule without penalty. Thank you so much for doing your part to not spread germs, helping to keep me as the photographer (and my other clients) healthy.
To my clients that have experienced infant loss: I would be honored if you would allow me to create a special session to honor that loss while celebrating the new life that has joined your family. Please let me know when you contact me to book about any special circumstances.
